Natalie Dormer on Jennifer Lawrence: ‘She’s so together. She’s an old soul’

Natalie Dormer appears in the December issue of Cosmo to promote her role as Cressida in Mockingjay: Part I. I bought advance tickets for my daughter’s birthday, so we’re counting down the days until we get to see Katniss kick some booty again. Natalie’s character is super tough too, and she has the half-shaved head to prove it. Natalie’s not getting the big magazine features for this movie because she’s not a huge star. Yet. There’s time for that in the future. I’ll be holding out for Nat as a Captain Marvel candidate. Yeah, she was in Captain America in a tiny role, but that doesn’t matter. She’d be a great Captain Marvel.
Natalie wears futuristic clothing for the Cosmo editorial, but those excerpts aren’t much. I cobbled them together with her new interview with Glamour UK. Check out what she says about Jennifer Lawrence, and we’ll discuss:
On courage: “Courage isn’t the lack or absence of fear – it’s overcoming it.”
Her new hairstyle: “Shaving half my head was a strong look that meant I could go punkier with my style.”
How to be stylish: “Good style – regardless of fads – means the things that suit your body.”
She adores JLaw: “Jennifer Lawrence is just the coolest girl. Everyone forgets how young she is because she’s so together, such an old soul. She just gets it. She’s one savvy chick.”
On scoring the Cressida role: “I went to the world premiere of Catching Fire last year, and it was amazing. To be joining The Hunger Games family is such a thrill. It deserves the hype because it’s well written, handles really big subject matter, but doesn’t talk down to its audience. And then there’s the romance element. The Hunger Games has something for everyone.”
She plays f—/marry/kill (sort of) “I’d avoid Gale because he’s too in love with Katniss, I’d kiss Peeta because he’s sweet and I’d marry Finnick because he’s loyal.”

Thank you, Natalie. I once called JLaw “an old soul,” and some of you fell to the floor laughing. I completely get how ridiculous it is to think Ms. Fartypants could possibly be mature. Seriously though, Jennifer can turn the farttime on and off and will. I read an interview (the source now evades me) with Bradley Cooper about how he was taken aback when he first started working with JLaw on Silver Linings Playbook. He couldn’t understand why she was cutting so many jokes and running around like a maniac. Then David O. Russell yelled, “Action,” and Jennifer transformed herself within a single moment. So what Nat says makes sense.
I’m including photos of Natalie on Halloween. She dressed as a victim of Jack the Ripper.
